In 2007, we had the opportunity to do a lot of traveling. In March we went on a Spring break trip with some friends, traveling to New Mexico and Texas. In Texas, we camped and hiked in the Guadalupe Mountain range (pictured). We also visited Carlsbad Caverns and White Sands, NM. This spring trip was a great break after a long Laramie winter.
Once the school year finished up we traveled to San Francisco and Fort Bragg, CA to visit Micah's younger brother Jon. While in California, we celebrated our five year anniversary by riding cable cars, eating sourdough bread and enjoying ice-cream sundaes at the Ghirardelli chocolate factory. While in Fort Bragg, we were able to visit the Thanksgiving Coffee Company (Jon's place of employment), and be part of a cupping to taste coffees from around the world. We were also able to sample some Anderson valley wine, hike among giant Redwoods (pictured), and walk along the western coast.
Several weeks after returning home we went across the state to Jackson Hole, WY. We spent three days visiting our good friends, hiking around the mountains, and fly-fishing. Micah caught a beautiful cutthroat (pictured), but in the same river ended up misplacing his wedding ring. He is hoping Santa will deliver the second one this Christmas.
We finished our summer vacation by traveling to Pennsylvania to visit some dear friends of ours who live in the city of bridges. While in Pittsburgh we took several days and traveled down to Washington D.C. In the capital we visited museums, spent a lot of time walking on the mall, and even made a stop at the zoo. Back in Pittsburgh, we visited the Phipps conservatory (pictured), which was a highlight of our trip.
We returned home from Pittsburgh only to jump right into our new jobs the next day. Micah took a job as the Math Specialist for an Elementary school. He has been busy attending trainings and helping to provide math support for students. SaraJane was able to transfer into Laramie as she accepted a first grade position at another Elementary school. She is quite happy to have traded her 40 minute commute in a freezing school bus to a 5 minute ride in our Subaru.
Though we have experienced a lot this past year, we know that the most important part is the people that we have spent it with. We are so glad to be a part of your lives and look forward to the experiences we can have with you in the future. We hope you have a great holiday season and drink lots of eggnog.
