We are trying to cope with this frigid blistery weather and the fact that we are forced to remain inside by doing this..........

A Change of Perspective
Over the last few years I have been changed. I hate to admit it, but when I was in high school I used to think that Wyoming was a silly square state with nothing to offer. My friend and I, when driving through on our way to Colorado used to make fun of it. Part of my cynicism probably had to do with multiple misfortunes I had with my vehicle as I was driving through the state, primarily in Lusk, Wyoming. I began referring to Lusk as the Bermuda Triangle of the west. I actually got to a point that I would pray for safety as I drove through the town and would be very relieved once I made it through. But I had this whole sense of dislike and even distrust in Wyoming.
But as I said, I have changed over the last few years. After I moved here to go to school, because I thought it was "the next best thing to living in Colorado", I began to realize that it may very well be the best thing. What ended up happening was that I began to take more notice of things around me, I began to realize where I was more, and I became more and more in awe of the environment in which I lived.
I remember one moment clearly in which it became clear that my perspective on things was changing. I remember that I went snowshoeing up in the Snowy Range by myself and there was one point when I stopped and I saw the piles of snow on the branches and logs. I remember standing there for what seemed like an eternity and thinking that it was so incredible it almost hurt to see. I felt like I had the greatest privilege in the world to be able to see what I was seeing. As I continued my snowshoe, I began to take more notice of the things around me. I remember sitting and marveling at the tracks of a pine-martin. As I made my way back to the car, I remember seeing a red fox run across the trail in front of me and at that moment I could have leaped out of my snow-pants I was so excited. I remember getting to the point where the fox had crossed the path and paying so much attention to the tracks as I inched closer and closer to get a better look, that I actually fell on my face into the snow. I remember that whole time not being able to stop thinking about God. I felt as though what I was doing was having my own special tour of the best that God had to offer me. Today, I am so enamored by the outdoors of Wyoming that it has almost become a hazard for other people. I get so distracted by a mountain, a rock formation, or an antelope that I have a hard time staying on the road. Seriously, people who know me get scared when I am driving and a deer shows up. But I have been changed, and I am enjoying this change of perspective.

How Rich Are You?
We have recently encountered several situations that have demanded a lot from us financially. In the end of November we lost everything on our hardrive. About a month later we were traveling for Christmas and totaled our car. We have been working very hard toward eliminating our debt and saving more for the adoption. So needless to say, when things happned we were a little discouraged.....okay to be honest a lot discouraged.....maybe even devastated.
While we were trying to remind ourselves that these things happen and that it could always be worse we found this website, globalrichlist.com and quickly were reminded how lucky we are to have an ABUNDANCE of wealth. When we stop and put things into perspective it reminds us of all that we still have to be thankful for, of all that we have to offer for others as an overflow of our abundance.
